Due to continuing expansion W M Donald are looking for a self-motivated Surfacing Manager to lead the Surfacing activities within Scotland, to plan, control, manage and co-ordinate all operational activities in line with company policy, processes, and procedures to satisfy the needs of all clients, and in line with budgets outlined in the Organisations Business Plan. Experience of managing multiple machines lay gangs is a must, as is a strong technical and operational background within the asphalt discipline and the ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, or ready for the next step, along with good communication and organisational skills. A driving licence is essential for this role Whilst the role will cover Scotland, the individual will be based at Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, travel will be required which may involve overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities

Manage surfacing operations by planning work, authorising associated paperwork and allocating resources effectively.

Prepare a rolling tar programme, maintain and deliver it.

Ensure client and key critical deadlines are met.

Reconcile material deliveries upon completion of works.

Deliver a quality service and product to correct specification and high standard of finish.

To be time flexible when works are being carried out.

Ensure on-site risk assessments are carried out appropriately to determine the appropriate type and level of provision of signing, guarding, PPE etc.

Make arrangements to ensure the outcome of the risk assessment is implemented prior to works commencing taking into consideration external factors e.g. road traffic, ground conditions, weather conditions etc.

Ensure equipment is correctly used and maintained in good order.

Ensuring that all equipment is fit for use and complies with legislation.

Ensure works are carried out in a safe and proper manner by implementing all controls as defined within the Site Specific Risk Assessment and to the standards required by the specification.

Ensure adherence with the company Skills and Competence Policy and Procedures.

Keep records of surfacing work as required by the company.

Ensure labour, plant and materials for all areas of your operations in a timely and cost effective manner.

Liaising and communicating with the Contract Managers on a regular basis alongside Site Supervisors.

Carrying out site Audits and act on the findings.

Deliver tool box talks.
