About the Role
As a Plant & Fleet Mechanic, you will play a key role in ensuring our plant and equipment is safe, reliable and available to meet operational requirements.
You will be responsible for servicing and repairing company plant, equipment & fleet vehicles, carrying out preventative and planned maintenance, diagnosing faults and undertaking general engineering tasks. This is a varied, non-routine role involving work across our operational area and attendance at sites where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and repair company plant, fleet vehicles and equipment efficiently and effectively
- Carry out preventative, planned and routine maintenance in accordance with company policy and legislation
- Diagnose and repair fleet & equipment faults with minimal supervision
- Ensure plant, fleet vehicles and equipment are fully serviceable and fit for purpose before being issued for use
- Maintain servicing programmes and ensure scheduled maintenance is completed
- Complete all relevant maintenance paperwork and documentation
- Attend operational sites where necessary to undertake repairs and maintenance
- Ensure equipment with expired calibration or PAT dates is not used
- Carry out general engineering tasks, with experience in hydraulics, electrics and minor fabrication/welding an advantage
- Report any limitations, defects or issues with plant and equipment to the appropriate personnel
- Work in accordance with risk assessments, safe systems of work, company procedures and relevant legislation
- Contribute to a positive safety, quality and environmental culture
Essential Requirements
- Formal qualification in vehicle and/or plant repair
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Good problem-solving skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
- Ability to meet company and operational deadlines
