Progress continues on W M Donald’s 132KV underground cable (UGC) replacement project between Elmwood and Glenagnes in Dundee.

The works involve the installation of 2.5km of ducting and cable pulling for a twin 132KV cable run, a significant undertaking for the team at W M Donald Utilities. Despite some challenges, the site crew has embraced the task with determination, exemplifying the company’s “Making it Happen” ethos.
November marked a key milestone with the delivery of approximately 14km of 132KV cable. With tracking work now completed, the project is advancing toward its final stages. Joint bay installations and cable pulling are scheduled for March, marking the end of what has been an exciting and rewarding contract.

This project represents one of W M Donald Utilities’ first major cabling projects, carried out in collaboration with Wood and end client SSE plc. The collaborative approach and strong teamwork among all parties have ensured smooth execution without significant issues, setting a positive precedent for future undertakings.
