Kai Anderson, a 16-year-old with a passion for the drainage industry, has joined the W M Donald Drainage team, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and a strong desire to learn.

Kai was introduced to the sector through a work experience placement arranged by Barnardo’s and W M Donald. During a three-week placement, his dedication and “get stuck in” attitude impressed the team, quickly earning him the respect of his colleagues.
Reflecting on his experience, Kai shared, “When I first heard I was going to be given work experience with the company, I was excited and so grateful for the opportunity. From the day I started, everyone was so helpful and supportive and instantly I felt like I was part of the team. After learning about different drainage jobs and equipment, I realised this was the career path I wanted to follow. When I was offered an apprenticeship after my placement, I couldn’t believe how lucky I was.”
Kiel Hauley, Drainage Services Manager, saw potential in Kai and decided to invest in his future. He has been providing continuous support to help Kai thrive in his career, especially as he begins his training on the CCTV van. Although challenging, Kai is excited about the learning process and is eager to see where his future in drainage will take him. With a bright future ahead, Kai is set to play an integral role in the continued success of W M Donald’s Drainage Division.
